Playground Lessons – Preschool Music Lessons
Playground Lessons are for our youngest students ages 3- to 6- years old. The lessons are rooted in joyful discovery. Students and teachers play and sing folk songs on piano, ukulele, bells, and various percussion instruments through rote learning. These preschool music lessons set the foundation for a lifetime of music making.

When your child plays music from an early age, here’s what happens:
Discover joy | when your child is guided to play familiar songs and lots of instruments, they discover joy in music!
Student-led learning | Playground lessons are student-led. The child leads the teacher in a 30 minute lesson of creativity, self-expression, and experimentation.
Combination of playful and rote methods | We embrace music through play and rote learning.
Balanced Teacher Guidance | We’re not into helicopter teaching, because young children don’t enjoy someone constantly correcting their behavior and every move. This approach means a more relaxed environment, with less anxiety and frustration.
Sharing Opportunities | Playing in front of others can sometimes be nerve wracking. In playground music lessons, your child and their teacher will share their progress with you when they’re ready; a great way to increase confidence and reduce performance anxiety over time. When recitals and showcases roll around, they’ll feel eager and excited to show their progress, because they’ve been flexing that performance muscle the whole time (without even realizing it).
Where do you offer playground lessons?
Playground Lessons are currently offered at all of 3 of our locations throughout Decatur and Atlanta (Virginia Highland).
Do I need to have an instrument?
Lucky for you, we’re fully equipped with beautiful, playful instruments in our lesson rooms. As for your practice time at home, we’re happy to make recommendations – check our this blog!
How long and how much are playground lessons?
Playground lessons are 30-minutes long and $190/month + $40 annual registration fee.

Our most anticipated event of the year is happening March 28, and we can’t wait to celebrate the work of our dedicated students!
Honors Festival gives our musicians the chance to perform for judges, receive professional written feedback, and showcase their work in a supportive setting! Students receive a certificate at the end of their performance.
