Why Piano Lab?

The benefits are clear.

When you play music in a group setting, here’s what happens:

Your own keyboard every time | Every student has a dedicated instrument and ipad for the full class. No waiting, no sharing β€” just you and the keys from the moment class starts.

Individual Teacher Attention | The teacher circulates continuously, stopping at each student to give hands-on guidance, correct technique, and answer questions. You get real feedback like a private lesson.

Work at your own levelΒ | Students aren’t locked to a single class tempo. You advance through the material at the pace that’s right for you, guided by a teacher who knows exactly where you are.

Self-Directed Practice| Between teacher visits, students work independently building the discipline and focus that makes practice at home actually stick.

Low-Pressure Performance | Each session includes a brief sharing moment where students play what they’ve been working on. Performing in front of a small, familiar group builds confidence gradually so performances feel exciting, not scary.

More Affordable!| Group format means a fraction of the cost of one-on-one lessons without sacrificing the individual attention that helps you improve.

Do I need to own a piano or keyboard?

All instruments and equipment are provided in our fully-equipped studio β€” you only need to show up! For home practice, we strongly recommend getting a keyboard. We maintain a list of our favorite beginner keyboards at all price points on our resources page.

What age is Piano Lab designed for?

Piano Lab works well for students who can handle some independent work (ages 5+) and adults.Β

How many students are in each class?

Classes are capped at 4 students so the teacher can give meaningful attention to every student, every session. Small enough that no one gets lost; each student works independently at their own instrument while the teacher rotates through the room.

What if my child has zero experience?

Piano Lab is specifically designed for absolute beginners. No prior reading of music or keyboard experience is required. Our instructors are experts at meeting students exactly where they are and making the first sessions feel exciting and accessible.

Where are classes held?

Piano Lab is located at the Ztunes Music – OODAZU Decatur classroom.

Can I try a single class before committing?

Absolutely! We offer drop-in sessions for $50. It’s the perfect way to experience the Piano Lab environment and see if it’s the right fit before enrolling in a monthly or semester plan.

“We’ve been taking lessons with Ztunes for five years. Love the flexibility, great teachers, and welcoming space! My kids have always felt so supported in their musical journeys.”
