Winter 2 - week 2 - mini maestros
Today we expanded our rhythm knowledge and learned about Edvard Grieg's Hall of the Mountain King.
Performance: Sweet Beets & Half notes
We warmed up with Sweet Beets on percussion instruments or Boomwhackers of our choice.
Repertoire: Grieg: In the Hall of the Mountain King
We read the story, Hall of the Mountain King, by Allison Flannery.
We made crowns while listening to the music. Everyone agreed, it was very scary and could imagine Peer tiptoeing through the castle and running away from the Mountain King. We all "slammed the door" at the end of the song.
We learned a hand jive to go with the music and tried to stick with the changing tempos:
At Ztunes: We got to check out the piano and how the inside of it looks while Ms. Karen played The Mountain King. We also felt the vibrations of the piano from underneath.
At Druid Hills: We watched a video about the piano, how it works inside and a brief history of it.
