spring - week 4 - mini maestros
Today we continued our unit on melodies. We mastered Do-Re-Mi and Sally the Camel. We also had a look at the Sorcerer's Apprentice and the xylophone.
Performance: Do-Re-Mi Warm Up and Sally The Camel
We warmed up with Do-Re-Mi using hand symbols and instruments. We applied Do-Re-Mi to Sally the Camel while playing, singing, and using our hand symbols.
Repertoire: Sorcerer's Apprentice by Dukas
We read a story, The Sorcerer's Apprentice while accompanied by the famous piece by Dukas. We talked about how you can hear the brooms marching, the trouble brewing, and more. This is a great piece for kids - I've included the classic Fantasia clip to the side.
Today we did a little experiment and made a water xylophone by pouring different amounts of waters into the same size jars. Try this at home with any similar container, it's also fun to make each a different color. We then got to try a real xylophone! What a fun way to tie it together!
